Little Brother was Blue Pearl's follow-up to their dancefloor smash Naked In The Rain.

But while Naked In The Rain reached number 4 in the UK chart, Little Brother only rose to number 31.

Nevertheless, it's a well-respected track that was strongly backed by their label, Big Life, being released on 7", CD, and two separate 12" singles in October 1990.

Blue Pearl were an English duo formed by American vocalist Durga McBroom and producer Martin Glover, better known as Youth.

McBroom was best known for her work as a backing vocalist with Pink Floyd, while Youth was a producer of some acclaim, as well as a founding member of Killing Joke.

The track was engineered by Andy Falconer and Kris "Thrash" Weston (both formerly of The Orb), with additional mixing and production by Howard Gray (a founding member of Apollo 440).

Blue Pearl have connections with another former member of The Orb, Jimmy Cauty. He remixed their previous single, Naked In The Rain, around the same time he was having his own top ten hits with The KLF.

Little Brother appeared on Blue Pearl's debut album Naked, which also included a cover version of Kate Bush's 1985 hit Running Up That Hill.

Blue Pearl continued to release music until 1993, with (Can You) Feel The Passion becoming their second biggest track in 1992, reaching number 14 in the UK and topping the US dance chart.

After this, Blue Pearl became less active, with McBroom continuing her association with Pink Floyd and Youth maintaining a prolific music-producing career, including work with James, The Verve, and Paul McCartney.

The recording featured here is the Extended Version from the first 12" single. The flip side of the record includes the Sister Mix and an instrumental of the album track Rollover.

The second 12" featured a mix by Soulshock & Cutfather, a project by Danish producer Oli Poulson, who also worked on top 40 hits for Living Colour and Roxette around this time.
